The Garage Cart is widely regarded as the father of the NES homebrew scene, and is, to the best of our knowledge, the first ever homebrew released in cart form.

It was released by Memblers (Joey Parsell) in June, 2005 for $42 as a cart-only, limited run of 24, each having it's own individual, handwritten, number on the front. The one in the picture is #8, owned by Dain Anderson, who originally was given the chance to purchase #6 and #8 for $70 shipped. This was in exchange for a system that Joey could test on that Dain sent him.

There are two versions of this cart, one in NTSC format, the other in PAL. The exact number of PAL carts is unknown, but it is thought that it's less than the number of NTSC carts (this is according to Memblers'  own recollection).

On October 14th, 2005, Joey sold one of the carts on eBay for $200, though the cart # is unknown at this time.

On October 16th, 2005, Dain sold his Garage Cart #6 on eBay as well, and it sold for $186.

The games included on the cart are (click to download the free ROM):

Munchie Attack (by Memblers)
Hot Seat Harry (by Memblers)
Solar Wars (by Chris Cowell)
