short story... a friend of mine was on my house yesterday, we were playing some puzzle games until we decided to switch to SF...

we played like 2 or 3 fights and I notice the voices were strange... like... I don't know, I didn't play that game before, but was strange to hear "new voices" instead the classic ones...

then... we saw something strange, maybe even "amazing"... the game is in japanese, it's a NTSC card, but the game is not the NTSC version... it has japanese text, it has the original names for Vega (dictator) and had some more options that my friend says the american version doesn't have (like a "turbo" mode)

sadly I put a custom on it, so we can't check any variation on it at first (I removed the custom later)... still intrigued by the discovery we opened the game to see if it was something strange... it looks "normal"... it's a NTSC (afaik), it says Nintendo 1992 and well... can't be a japanese cart or a reproduction...

what would it be?

I would say it's a Super Famicom SF inside a US Cart... what makes you think it's a US Board?? Japanese boards ARE NTSC, and have "Nintendo 1992" on them...

So I guess my question is....? what is odd about a Super Famicom Board inside a US Cart?

mmhhh... it's strange to have a NTSC cart with a JPN board inside...

at least... I got it from a dude it's not a gamer or something like that... he purchased the game a loooong time ago and he didn't even know how to open them... so I'm the second owner (afaik)...

also... japanese boards can be placed in a NTSC card easily? o_o

USA and Japan both use NTSC. The only thing that keeps a US console from playing Japanese games are tabs in the cart tray along with the shape of the cart.

I agree you probably have a JP board in a US cart shell, possibly a mistake during assembly.

Second one to show up in the last week (close enough)

It is a known "issue"

Personally, I would love to find one of these carts.

that's pretty interesting... didn't know about it until now... it's a shame I swapped the label, it was dirty, incomplete with bad shape anyways...

thanks for the link, I can say now I have something "rare" in my collection

Yeah, one of my 2 SSFII carts is like this. got mine from an old couple that owns a thrift store. They said they found a few games that day in a box behind a box that had been sitting in the back for 10+ years, the other games were sports.

This is a known error for these carts.
