USA #14 :/

Mexico is #25
Ireland right below us at #15
Israel is #11
Canada is #7
Norway and Denmark #1 and #2

I'm somewhat amused that a country (Israel) that perpetually gets missiles lobbed at it by terrorists is still overall happier than the USA! That's, a rather sad statement about the "richest" country in the world. Of course, read up, and you'll see that yes the USA is rich, but wealth is so divided in this country... and wealth does not equate with happiness. But, anyway. How do people feel? Ya'll happy?

Another thing to remember, is Americans are insanely spoiled by nature and are never happy with anything. Just from my experiences at least. So it makes sense that even though we may have things in a lot of ways much better than other places, we don't actually appreciate any of it.

All the Canadians sure seem happy
As for Americans spoiled... yes, and no. I don't know. I've had people from Europe tell me that Europeans are typically far more spoiled than Americans. I don't know if this is true. It depends on how you define spoiled, etc. I do think Seems like evidence points that Americans used to be happier decades ago

Probably to an extent, depends on how you define happiness. I take everything with a grain of salt, but overall, I think the statistics are probably accurate.

I work for a guy that moved back to Canada from Norway a few years ago. He said its amazing, but the big cities have gone to shit the last decade.

I would try to live at the ege of the city (if there's such athing).  But the city I'm most interested in is Tromsø, though Hammerfest has a cool name!

I'm sorry I missed this earlier...

Everyone stop!

I'm sorry you all had to apologize without me. I'm sorry, too.

I'm also sorry for the longwinded "sorry", my bad!

Edit: Maybe I took that a little far. Insert apology here:

Well for one, Europe tends to work much less than the USA.  I would assume that in general, if you work less hours and have more personal time, you would think that you are "happier".  In France virtually the entire country takes off the ENTIRE MONTH of August.  That must be sweet.

Hell yeah you should, they only work 27 hours a week on average.  Wikipedia has them as #3 of #35 ranked countries in terms of the least amount of hours worked a year (Netherlands and Germany are 2 and 1).  Mexico is the most overworked... which corresponds with their general impression of being hard workers.

Not sure, I've worked with a big French company that sells to the DoD and know they take off every August for sure.  They mentioned it was fairly commonplace around there, but can't speak to Spain.

France is ranked #31 in happiness. FAR below the USA! Just because you work less hours does not necessarily make you happy apparently

Most of continental Europe partakes in that practice.

(and the really well-off take both July AND August off)

When you're the only developed country that wasn't reduced to rubble in WW2, it's hard not to be the happiest for at least a little while
