eBay. There are some great BINs out there. You gotta be quick on the draw. And it helps to have no life.

Getting scammed on a fake Stadium Events doesn't hurt as bad when these sorts of things happen, though.

A few weeks ago, there was this. That's Color Bar Generator, one of the rarest Atari 2600 carts, for a BIN of $20. The crazy part? The guy didn't even list that it came with the box, so it was a surprise when I opened it up and discovered I'd just bought a CIB copy, taking the value out of the hundreds and apparently into the thousands.

But not all stories can be so happy.

This USED to be a really nice-looking copy of SwordQuest Waterworld, still sealed. It was $10.

Unfortunately, the good folks at the U.S. Postal Service (motto: Using Your Tax Dollars To Destroy Your Property Since 1775) decided to play a game of tetherball with this box before it arrived, thus crushing the everloving shit out of the box. So depressing.

I love the WE CARE baggie that they attached to the box. If you cared so much, why not refund the money you took before you ran this package over with a dump truck? WE COULDN'T GIVE LESS OF A FUCK is more like it.

Oh well. Hard to be sad when you have a complete Waterworld with an effed-up box for $10.

Kudos to captmorgandrinker for spotting that I'd won the Waterworld auction and asking me to post it here. Now you have heard my sad story.

In a shoebox. It wasn't packaged too well, but at least it had some shrinkwrap. But the box got murdered.

I guess the Color Bar Generator box bonus makes up for the smashed to shit Waterworld....

At least it wasn't completely mint when you bought it, you can see a pretty good box ding in the pic. I think your Color Bar Generator find might just be tops for the year.

There have been about 4 or so boxed Color Bar ones pop up this year. I made a post on Atari age this spring that maybe many had been found. 2 completes sold for mid $700 and then some fool paid some super high price over summer. SPEED COLLECTOR!

Ouch. Well, like you said, $10 for a rare SEALED game with a beaten-to-shreds box is still a good deal.
