I've been collecting PS2 now for a bit over 2 years and there are a handful of titles that are fairly difficult to find. That said, none have been more elusive than the NTSC version of FIFA 13. To call it rare is an understatement - it's been more of a myth really. Over 2 years of searching for it and there has never been a single listing on eBay or on Amazon. If you search for the game on Google or Yahoo, you wont find any actual pictures of the game aside from pre-sale mock ups. The thing just doesn't exist. One collector theorized that the game was only released in the NTSC format in Brazil and he was able to find 2 copies of the game, but without the ESRB rating and with a Portuguese warning on the cover. That's the best any of us have been able to come up with until now.

About a week ago a long-time member here posted a picture of this game inquiring about it in a thread. We messaged back and forth, came up with a price, and a few days later it's mine  . Still super excited about finally acquiring this and proving it’s an official NA release.

Maybe it's the photo, but does that NTSC lettering on the top right look way off?

Well done. Odd that a football game is rare. Then again, its NTSC Fifa.

It's probably much more common in Mexico and/or Central America

I dont doubt that its more common in mexico since that is where it was released, but its definitely not common. To put it in perspective, over the same time frame, well over 15 lucha libres and atrevete a sonars each for the wii have surfaced for sale and these are very rare games for the wii that were (most likely) only available in mexico. Obviously, more of these might pop up, but at least we know it exists now.

When I went to Thailand a few months ago several arcades had a section with coin-op converted PS2 consoles running FIFA. I recall one such setup runing FIFA 2011 but I wonder if any of the others had anything newer.

And its' sealed, no less. Congrats.

What does the sticker say? I think NA rescaled the image, so it's completely unreadable.

Its an import sticker in Spanish. I cant really read it, but it says it was imported from e.u.a. for distribution at Gamexpress in Mexico and that it only contained this one piece. Its probably common for sealed Mexican games as I have a similar sticker on one of my el chavos.

Congratulations! Was that indeed the last game for PS2 to be released? I saw a version that said NTSC U/C but it had a green L logo where the ESRB is. I guess that's a variant.

Actually, no - the last released game was FIFA 14. Even though FIFA 14 is still one of the rarest games for the system, it is still much easier to find than FIFA 13.

The copy with the green L logo where the ESRB rating goes was the Brazilian release. It is NTSC, but for South America.

Very cool.

I'm kinda tooting my own horn here (since I own it), but if you're looking for another white whale, there's this variant of Gran Turismo 3...

The normal GH release has different disc art (the racetrack image is tinted red) and has a different item number/SKU, which is incidentally the item number/SKU of the original retail release.
