So you found prototypes in the wild on two separate occasions?  That's pretty damn amazing!

Yea... lol... I asked the guy what the price of the games were for the Virgin bunch, and he said 5 dollars each.. I said, they look broken, and I got him down to a dollar each. Very random... I sell most my finds on Ebay, but have been stuck with these for months. Can't sell proto's on Ebay. That is how I discovered this community, which I really enjoy. I've been downloading all the previous articles, and really enjoyoing everything. Hopefully I can contribute more in the future.

The sound test cart is pretty neat. looks like it was used to test sound options. I saw option for using the hardware envelopes and for software envelopes, so that cart probably contain the virgin sound engine.

From Tommy:

"Holy shit! Yeah... those are my carts. And the "Tommy T." label is my handwriting. The "Golf Power" was an old cartridge casing that I erased over... I was a game tester for Golf Power so when the game was completed I used the cart to put an NES sound engine on it for when I was working on Color A Dinosaur!

It's actually a pretty historical cartridge because Color A Dinosaur is always heralded as the worst game I ever worked on... which drives the price of the actual NES cart up because so many people try to find it. I've signed a ton of those things. The complete NES Color A Dinosaur story can be found here: http://www.tallarico.com/index.php?s=coloradinosaur

There are a handful of videos on YouTube of the game.

Also... that was right during the time when I went from a game tester to a composer (which is why I used my Greg Norman cart).

Pretty crazy!!

Make sure to pass on this info and the story with the cart. It's a pretty interesting piece."

That is pretty awesome Frank

Could you invite Tommy to our community? I'd love to hear some more stories about his time as a composer.

I'm a bit upset, I was told pretty simply that if I had the highest bid on Tommy's cart at the end of the auction, i'd win it. Well that I had, but seems like Kirakid still doesn't want to sell the cart to me.

^ I agree with this, as I tried to top an offer on a game as well, and was told otherwise. I just dont have $800 to throw around (most dont at once) so the community really couldnt beat it.

Oh well...its over...

I'm glad eBay doesn't work like this. "Congratulations, you're the highest bidder but I'm still selling the item to someone else!"

Josh made it clear that a high offer on the lot would trump a high offer on a game pretty early on.  I understand where you're coming from, but I think most would agree that an offer of $1k+ on the lot of protos would trump an individual offer of a few hundred on one of the protos.

Hopefully the winner releases the ROM for Tommy T's Sound Editor (and all the others) so that everyone in the community can have some fun with it

Exactly what I've been thinking... I've been getting numerous PM's from people upset about the fact that they thought they were the highest bidder. I specifically stated that I would rather take an offer for all 4 then to sell them individually. I believe, these carts should not be split up, since most of them were from the personal collection of Tommy T. I can tell you the transaction is complete with someone on these forums, and the winner paid top dollar for them. I realize I can't make everyone happy. I made a judgement call and took my highest offer for the lot of 4. I apologize, but I thought I was descriptive enough when I said I would check my email/PM's at 8pm and close the deal on the highest offer that was sent in to me by 7pm.. Maybe next time (if there is one), I will put this up on the NA auction and see how that works. Maybe I'll find a proto of bubble bath babes. Haha that would be awesome!

Josh

Well count me in the crew that believes this entire auction was confusing and there was nothing clear about it at all. You mentioned that the current high offer was for the lot, but you had offers broken down by game. Now why in the world would you do that if you were only taking a lot offer? See what I mean, that makes no sense at all.

You're new, people make mistakes, we all understand. I don't put this on you, rather I put it on the ambiguous auction terms in the first place. International shipping? Offer by lot or by item? Etc.

Hopefully this is a lesson learned to all parties, I for one would be furious if I missed out on a once in a lifetime item when I was the high bidder...

I agree completely. It was convoluted and misleading, although I don't think it was intentional. Sucks for those that missed out but I'm happy you were able to complete the transaction.

That's not quite how it went. He should have stated clearly that he'd rather sell them as a lot. Why even bother listing the individual offers then if he wasn't interested in them? In his private message he clearly stated I was the high bidder for Tommy T's. In my book, that usually means I get to buy the cart.

"You are the High Bidder, I just updated my Post... IF You are the high bidder at 7PM tonight Pacific, you will win. Keep checking the post as I will update the post during the last 5 hours."

How am I supposed to take that any other way? There were no bids after my offer. I feel screwed.

I can assure you that the winner paid top dollar... And when you broke down (Split them up) the games, he paid more individually per a game then any of my Offers I had for a single game.

I think almost every issue with auctions on this site would be fixed with clearer terms in the initial post. This is just another example of that. Sucks because they are such high end items, but it happens. Probably hurt Josh the most because he would have made more $$$ I'm guessing if things were clearer.

Well truthfully, you have no way of knowing this.  Looks like all of the end bidding was through PM so you have no idea when offers came, who they came from, or what the selling price was.

I understand where you are coming from. It was not my intention at all the screw anyone over. I thought I had made it clear in Red Bold Font, that after 4:30pm, I had decided I was more inclined to take the offer for all 4 of them. That is why I said to keep checkin the post, as I was updating it. I thought I made myself clear, obviously not. I really am sorry.

The seller sold the prototypes to the person that offered the most for the lot. Sounds fairly straight forward to me.

If the sale is completed, could we have a mod lock this thread up? No point in letting it snowball into a group lashing. If there was any wrong doing (which I don't think there was), I think we can all agree that is was not intentional/malicious.

Let's keep it positive!
