Holy grail level up! Sharp C1 Famicom TV with controllers and pack-in cart

Much rarer than the super famicom SF-1 combo tv unit and NES tv unit

Wow that stinks of the 1980s, it's beautiful and I'm so jealous! Well found, could I be rude and ask how much you paid?

Amazing! That's the type of find that I'm genuinely jealous of. Congrats for sure.

Has the pack-in cart ever been dumped?

I would love to own one of these units someday! It would replace the tried and true Commodore monitor hooked up to my Twin.

Thanks all! Been after one for ages

@BeaglePuss
Yup, she's been dumped

@Evenball
Yes the square buttons caught my eye too. The very first production run of famicoms had square buttons.

@retrofixes
Haha I thought of that too, but no they don't.

@Otter
@KAMIKAWA
Found it on an online auction from Japan (not eBay).

@Shinju
Been looking for years... then one day a pair of controllers showed up on the Yahoo Japan Auctions. At the time I thought it was the complete unit, however after I had won... well it was just for a pair of the controllers. About a week or two later, the TV unit itself had finally appeared (from a different seller). The controllers were foreshadowing it's appearance haha. Well I just had to win it. The starting bid was pretty high, but seemed about right. I placed my max bid and hoped for the best. I was able to win without having to duke it out too hard, so that was a relief. Next was the cart, but luckily it's not too hard to find. Uncommon but totally sourceable.

The next challenge was shipping. Shipping a CRT from Japan to the States is a hassle and costly... not to mention a bit scary. I've seen a lot of horror stories of damage shipping CRTs. Fortunately she arrived safe and sound.

When I first powered her up though the colors were off. Think of someone putting a magnet up to a CRT (red, yellow or green patches on the screen). I searched for a degauss button, but the unit didn't have one. Also it wasn't like "modern" CRTs that degauss on power-up. Crap! So I ordered a degaussing coil that day online and watched a few youtube vids on how to use it. Few days later, the coil arrives, did the deed and voila! Perfect! The picture looks fantastic. My crappy cellphone cam takes horrible CRT pics.

Oh forgot to mention that the auction had stated that the front glass was missing. Bummer, but I thought well I suppose I could have one made or last resort have some plexiglass cut. Pleasant surprise when it arrived, the front glass was there

From what I've read and heard, these units have an RGB PPU just like the Sharp Famicom Titler. One supposed hint is the yellow hue to the background in SMB 3. Also on these units, if you don't pop in a cartridge... there's a built-in drawing/paint program. Kinda neat!

Very nice! Those controllers look like they'd be annoying to play with having the inputs in the corners like that. Do you find?

Seconded.

Is that a flat panel of glass over the front?

That is awesome, my Sharp TV also had a bad Degaussing circuit even after I did the Ring it would slow come back after about a month or so. I took it to a CRT specialist and he fixed it right up and its been working and looking great ever since!

Sweet machine!
